From the main junction above the town, the road descends steeply past the cemetery and the chapel of the Phaneromeni on the left to a plateia shaded with mulberry trees: to one side is the town’s ancient water-source of soft spring-water, flowing out from an 18th century marble front with partially abraded inscription in Osmanli script. Opposite is a bust of Ioannis Zigdis, a distinguished politician and economist of the last century from Lindos.
