Fourni Island, Greece.
Building on the fame of Fourni”s lobster-fishing fleet, the two main restaurants on the waterfront, Nikos (or more properly “Taverna Remezzo”) and Miltos are popular and full with locals and visitors alike; both have undoubtedly good fish-dishes and are comparable in price and quality.
What they may lack in the homely touch can be found, however, inland along the main street under the mulberries, where To koutouki tou Psaradikou specialises in traditional, home-made oven dishes, such as papoutsaki (stuffed aubergine) and briam (a kind of Greek ratatouille).
O Kalokardos, beside the town”s main church of Aghios Nikolaos, is good for local wine and specialises in meat dishes. The fish taverna at Kamari is popular with islanders in the summer; like wise the little taverna Pilavaki in Chrysomilia.
