Piperi

Piperi, lies well to the east, and is the most intensively protected zone of the whole Marine Park. This steep and well-wooded island represents a particularly important habitat for many of the important protected species: the caves along its shore for the monk seal, and its cliffs for rare chasmophyte plants, sea-birds and raptors. It is thought to be home to over 300 pairs of Eleanora’s falcon, which breed in the late summer and feed on small migrating birds through the autumn. Piperi is also home to Bonelli’s eagle, buzzard and Peregrine falcon.

Piperi Island is part of the Lesser Sporades Island Group, Greece.
